Job Description
Position: System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Design and deploy SCOM infrastructure: Configuration of management packs, rules, and monitors to monitor applications, servers, networks, and databases.
- Create custom management packs: Using Silect MP Studio 3rd party tool.
- Monitor and troubleshoot SCOM systems: Proactive monitoring, issue identification, investigation, and resolution to maintain a stable and secure IT environment.
- Develop and maintain management packs: Tailoring packs to the organization's applications, services, and infrastructure to ensure comprehensive monitoring.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work with IT teams, system administrators, developers, and stakeholders to understand requirements and implement monitoring solutions.
- Continuous improvement and best practices: Stay updated with SCOM features, tools, and best practices to enhance system performance, reliability, and security. Contribute to operational policies and standards.
- Documentation and reporting: Maintain accurate SCOM documentation and generate regular reports on system performance.
- Manage services overview dashboards solution: Martello IQ/Gizmo.
- Provide 24x7 support as needed.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 3+ years recent IT experience with extensive knowledge of SCOM or similar monitoring solutions.
- Proficiency in Windows Server 2016 or newer, Active Directory, and Windows OS administration.
- General knowledge of Systems Security best practices.
- Strong customer service skills.
Preferred:
- 5+ years recent IT experience.
- Proficient in Device Management using SCCM/MS Intune.
- Experience with License management, SQL queries, and Excel data consolidation.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Teams, Planner, Project, Azure Monitor, and Sentinel.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or 3+ years relevant work experience in Computer Science or Information Technology related field.
License and Certification: MCP, MCSA, MCSE certification preferred.
Computer/Software Knowledge:
- Required: Microsoft Windows OS/Server OS/Office Suite experience.
- Preferred: Azure Infrastructure, Cloud Technology, Visio Documentation.
Work Environment:
- Hybrid work policy (minimum three days in-office, rest from home, subject to change).
- Possible overtime required.
Travel Requirements: Less than 10%.
Compensation: $56.00 to $74.00 per hour.
