Data Analyst (Tableau)
Pay Range: $50/hour to $60/hourÂ
Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior BI Data Analyst / Reporting Developer to support enterprise reporting, data extraction, and business intelligence initiatives within a healthcare data environment. This role is responsible for gathering requirements, designing and developing data solutions, and delivering reports and extracts that support operational, financial, and clinical decision-making.
The ideal candidate has strong technical BI development experience, advanced SQL skills, and deep familiarity with healthcare data structures, particularly within managed care environments such as Medicaid and Medicare.
Key Responsibilities Requirements Gathering & Solution Design
- Gather and document requirements for internal reporting and external vendor data extracts
- Translate business requirements into technical report and data extract designs
- Evaluate data sources and determine appropriate technical approaches to meet reporting needs
- Analyze source data for accuracy, completeness, and business impact on reporting outputs
- Design, develop, and maintain BI solutions including reports, extracts, and data models
- Develop and code solutions aligned to technical specifications
- Perform unit testing and validate data outputs for accuracy and completeness
- Ensure solutions are documented, including technical specifications, data mappings, and design artifacts
- Develop and support BI solutions using Microsoft BI stack (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS)
- Build and maintain dashboards and reports using Tableau
- Write complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis
- Support BI reporting portals and associated reporting tools
- Communicate regularly with end users regarding design decisions, timelines, and deliverables
- Coordinate user validation and acceptance testing of reporting solutions
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, vendors, and project teams to ensure timely delivery
- Provide project updates, estimates, and status reporting to leadership
- Serve as technical lead and mentor for BI tools and reporting best practices
- Train and guide team members on efficient use of BI tools and development standards
- Recommend improvements to tools, processes, and reporting methodologies
- Ensure solutions are properly tested and deployed through standard change management processes
- Participate in planning, scoping, and delivery of data and BI-related project components
- Provide support for production deployments and ongoing maintenance
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 6+ years of technical experience in healthcare data systems and managed care data environments
- Strong experience working with healthcare data structures and business processes
Preferred Domain Experience
- Medicaid and Medicare managed care environments
- Claims processing, membership management, provider data, financial administration, pharmacy administration, and care management
Technical Skills
- Advanced SQL development and data interrogation skills
- Microsoft BI stack: SSIS, SSAS, SSRS
- Strong experience with Tableau
- Experience with data modeling and reporting solutions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
