As Director of the Emergency Department, you’ll play a pivotal leadership role in ensuring high-quality, safe, and effective patient care. You’ll guide and mentor a talented team while driving continuous improvement and operational efficiency across the department.

Position Overview
This leadership role oversees all nursing and designated patient care services within the Emergency Department. The Director is responsible for assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing practice across multiple units, while maintaining accountability for quality, safety, staffing, and compliance.

This facility is a Level I trauma center, managing approximately 27,000+ visits per year, including 8–15 trauma cases daily. The ED includes 2 trauma bays and 38 total beds, supported by a team of approximately 60 employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational and clinical leadership for the Emergency Department.

  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care in alignment with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Oversee departmental staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation.

  • Partner with clinical and administrative leaders to drive quality, safety, and performance initiatives.

  • Foster collaboration, engagement, and professional growth among staff.

  • Serve as a role model and advocate for nursing excellence and patient advocacy.

Qualifications
Education

  • Required: Associate degree in Nursing with a Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field, or a BSN.

  • Preferred: MSN or Master’s degree in a healthcare-related discipline.

Experience

  • Required: Minimum 2 years of progressive leadership experience in a hospital setting as a manager, charge nurse, or in a similar role.

Certifications & Licensure

  • Active RN license in the state of practice.

  • Current CPR certification required.
