Pay Range: $70/hour to $75/hour
Overview:
We are seeking experienced Network Engineers with a minimum of 8+ years (ideally 10+ years) of hands-on experience in Cisco switch/router refresh projects. This role plays a critical part in a large-scale LAN Refresh initiative across environments in the Los Angeles and Pasadena areas for our client. If you're a proactive engineer who thrives in high-impact, hands-on network refreshes and migrations, this is a fantastic opportunity to lead key infrastructure upgrades that directly support critical healthcare operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Cisco switch/router refreshes, replacing legacy hardware (10–12 years old) with Cisco 9300, 9410, 9500, and 9606 switches.
- Configure and deploy switches during scheduled migration windows, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Perform detailed port-by-port migrations in active hospital environments.
- Work closely with technicians and fellow engineers to coordinate and execute cutovers.
- Conduct prep work and testing prior to migrations to ensure a smooth transition.
- Upgrade IOS on over 100 switches to support Cisco Software-Defined Access (SDA).
- Assist in integrating new sites/circuits and upgrading port speeds to 5G for 9100 series AP support.
- Implement DNAC licensing upgrades and plan uplink architecture across chassis.
Technical Requirements:
- Strong Cisco networking background with recent, hands-on experience in switch/router refreshes.
- Deep expertise in Layer 3 switching, particularly:
- OSPF
- Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) and Port States: Blocking, Listening, Learning, Forwarding, Disabled
- Experience deploying and migrating to Cisco Catalyst 9300, 9410, 9500, and 9606 switches.
- Understanding of port speed limitations and upgrade strategies.
Preferred Qualifications:- Cisco certifications (CCNP, CCIE) are a plus.
- Prior experience in healthcare or similarly regulated environments.
- Familiarity with Cisco DNA Center and SDA implementation.
