Job Description:
The Product Engineering Manager in the Insulation Systems I&C organization is responsible for team development while acting as technical liaison to R&D, Product Management, Operations, Marketing and Technical Service personnel. The role manages the development of product engineering specifications, standards, tools, procedures, and documentation, and leads technical projects including new product development through the stage gate process for the spray foam portfolios. The manager role drives the Insulation System Innovation & Commercialization mission of 1.) delivering new products to the market, 2.) supporting operations in delivering quality products to JM customers, and 3.) being the technical voice for JM products.?

Your Day to Day:
  • Responsible for team development and guidance, including but not limited to: personnel appraisals, creation and maintenance of engineering development matrices, goal and objectives setting and review, strategic planning, training, career development and salary administration for the technical portfolio staff.
  • Lead and execute technical projects including new product development.
  • Coordinate with Product Management team to establish priorities, forecast manpower requirements, and allocate resources to meet schedule requirements.
  • Acts as technical and managerial advisor to internal and external customers.
  • Develop fitness for use customer requirements and commercialize new products and/or product extensions based on those customer needs.
  • Generate and maintain assignments, schedules, and budgets pertaining to department responsibilities and customer projects.
  • Review all proposed projects and initial design scopes to ensure technical and budgetary feasibility.
  • Ensure the stage gate process is utilized and communicated at each phase of every project.
  • Manage the development of product specifications, standards, tools, procedures and documentation to ensure all products and systems are designed in accordance with industrial codes and company philosophies.
  • May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Team:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry or other related technical field with a minimum of 10 years of experience managing technical projects, 7 years of experience in a senior engineering role, engineering manager role, product engineering role with responsibility over direct reports and 5 years of experience managing teams, both direct and cross-functional peers.
  • Strong preference for Spray Foam chemistry/formulation experience.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Solid budgeting skills
  • Experience with stage gate product development process and Design of Experiment (DOE)
  • Working knowledge of business case development.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Solid active listening skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Strong statistical skills.
  • Manages a staff of salary employees, sets direction, and deploys resources. Responsible for performance evaluations, pay reviews, hiring, and terminating.
  • Heavy travel required (30 or more days per year).
  • Work environment includes research and development facility (may be exposed to environmental conditions of cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust/mist/gas/fumes, extensive walking or climbing, etc.) and manufacturing facilities.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to and including 25 pounds.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The spray foam portfolio is an opportunity to grow and requires a technical leader to drive projects and product qualifications. The leader will work with external third party agencies and suppliers to develop new formulations and applications with internal spray foam chemists, product management, GP&L, and operations teams. will have 3 direct reports

Salary Range: $118K to $163K
