Position: Senior Network Engineer
Location: Los Angeles
Salary Range: $170k - $180k

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Network Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in network architecture, design, implementation, and support.

The ideal candidate will possess advanced skills in SD-WAN technologies, dynamic routing protocols, and extensive experience with network and security appliances including Fortinet and Cisco.

In addition, proficiency in cloud networking with a focus on Azure is essential for this role. Reporting to the Manager of Network and Security Engineering, the Senior Network Engineer is responsible for maintaining and monitoring network and security platforms supporting the a global law firm.

Duties and responsibilities: 
  • Plans, designs, implements, and provides ongoing support of network systems in extranet, backbone, and corporate environments to fulfill business needs for performance and efficiency.
  • Serves as technical lead for hardware installation, configuration, and operational support of the network’s routers, switches, firewalls and other critical network and security infrastructure; work with application owners and clients to fine-tune the network for optimal performance.
  • Evaluates new technology and bring opportunities forward that would improve the future network architecture, performance, and network services.
  • Ensures all changes go through appropriate review, change control, and acceptance before implementation.
  • Leads development, testing and QA functions to ensure that projects are securely delivered and fulfill expectations.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with teams and third parties on network development or support issues.
  • Provides highest level of technical consultancy to ensure problem resolution is achieved in the shortest possible timeframe.
  • Develops processes and procedures for use by the Network team and third parties in the management of network environments. Provides technical management and functionality of key management, monitoring, and administrative tools - such as SolarWinds, FortiManager and Cloud portal tools.
  • Develops solutions and builds plans to effectively gain buy-in from all participants.
  • Develops and streamlines processes to further improve delivery of Network and Telecommunication services; provides recommendations to management team to increase effectiveness of organization and technology solutions.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in network engineering roles, with a focus on network infrastructure, SD-WAN, cloud networking, and security technologies.
  • Hands on experience with hardware installation, racking/stacking and cabling, including design, documentation, implementation and QA.
  • Strong proficiency in SD-WAN solutions, with hands-on experience deploying and managing platforms such as Cisco, Fortinet, Secure SD-WAN.
  • In-depth understanding of cloud networking concepts and architectures, with practical experience working with Azure.
  • Extensive experience with network security appliances and solutions from Fortinet (FortiGate).
  • Solid understanding of networking protocols and technologies, including spanning tree TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, HSRP, VRRP, and routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Professional certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, Fortinet NSE, AWS, Azure or equivalent are highly desirable.
Preferred:
  • Possess a detailed understanding of foundational network and security technology.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into actionable, high quality and resilient designs based on the organization’s needs and align with industry standards.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of internal & external stakeholders.
  • Self-directed, work with minimal guidance, and recognize when guidance is needed.
