IT System Engineer, Senior
 
Onsite. Location Options: Medford, OR - Portland, OR - Seattle, WA 
*Can work a 3 days in, 2 days out hybrid schedule*
Starting ASAP! 
 
Must have:
  • 3+ years of experience with systems - implementing & administrating infrastructure on premises and in the cloud
    • ***Systems include Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, and Office 365 global administration
  • Understanding of Hyper-V, VMWare and other virtualization platforms
  • Windows Server environments (5+ years)
  • M365 (3+ years) - Must have Active Directory
  • Network / Firewall / Switch experience (~3 Years)
  • Experience designing and building - KC is not interested in seeing any candidates that have primarily been "maintaining". 
  • ***Looking mostly for LAN and WAN configuration, setup, & troubleshooting mostly

They're not opposed to seeing "System Admin" as the last / only role on a resume IF 1) the experience is within a large, fast moving organization 2) The person had experience in those roles with building / designing. They're a smaller shop, so their version of "Level III" could be comparable to other organizations "Admin" or "Level II".

 JOB SUMMARY

The Service Engineer (SE) is primarily responsible for providing highest level of support (T3 technical expertise) to end users by handling service requests that have been escalated by lower tiers. Support will generally be provided, remotely, over the phone, or via email however some onsite work may be necessary. They will be required to develop solutions for complex network, desktop, and server problems. They will have the ability to analyze existing systems and make proactive recommendations for improvements. Develops, maintains, and implements all systems, applications, and networking configurations. The SE will also work to continuously advance personal and organizational technical abilities. As a senior team leader in the organization, the SE must be a champion of the company culture, leading by example hold them to the highest behavior standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
  • Thorough understanding of Hyper-V, VMWare and other virtualization platforms
  • Thorough understanding of Industry best practices for Windows Server environments and associated roles and dependencies
  • Provide mentoring, guidance and education to junior staff. Provide feedback to junior staff, and work with the manager to ensure their appropriate professional development
  • Troubleshoot and resolve all tier 2+ escalated tickets, including those associated with design, development, documentation, analysis, testing or modification of the following, but not limited to:
    1. Line of business applications
    2. Operating systems, or hypervisors (VmWare or Hyper-v)
    3.  Hardware configurations (servers, firewalls, L2/L3 switches, wireless and VoIP phones)
  • Provide timely and business driven recommended solution for Pre-Sales Engineering (PSE) requests
    1. Includes: systems analysis, consulting with users on business objectives and recommending solutions that are supportable and fit within the framework of our technology stack.
  • Work alongside our vCIO team to support customers business and technology strategies.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while communicating ticket updates to client frequently, and professionally.
  • Continuously develop technical and professional skills by learning from experiences, studying, and completing relevant training or certification courses
  • Seek to continuously improve operational efficiency through automation and tool development 
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications including Visio

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in an IT support or consulting role
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience with o365, Windows Servers and supporting technologies. 
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience with LAN and WAN configuration, setup, and troubleshooting 
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience providing excellent exceptional service directly to end users

 

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • A BA/BS in related field is preferred
  • One or more of the following industry certifications Azure, o365, MCSA/E, CCNA/P, CCIE, are preferred though equivalent experience can be substituted.
  • Possesses valid driver’s license and proof of insurance, acceptable driving record.
