Systems Administrator, Level 1

Job Description
Job Title: System Administrator, Level I
Job Purpose: The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of current Microsoft Windows server, Active Directory, and networking technologies. The purpose of this job is to support day-to-day infrastructure-related activities, respond to emergency events, and participate in projects/tasks during and outside of normal business hours.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Virtualization:
- Build new servers, administer virtual desktop infrastructure, and participate in annual DR failover events.

Security & Compliance:
- Participate in security roadmap projects and compliance/security audits.
- Implement CIS server hardening and enforce protections of the platform and data.

Microsoft Stack:
- Administer Windows server, Active Directory, Group Policy, Internet Information Services, distributed file services, DNS, and DHCP.
- Some Azure AD & O365 administration (EXO, Intune, Teams, SharePoint, & OneDrive).

Infrastructure Management:
- Oversee and manage production, infrastructure, & Dev/Test environments.
- Participate in production after-hours releases on a rotation basis.

Change Management:
- Participate in the change management process for implementation and enforcement, including after-hours production code releases.

On-Call Rotation:
- Participate in the Server Team weekly on-call rotation.
Experience Requirements:
- Experience in Windows 2016/2019/2022 Server administration, including Active Directory.
- Administration experience with DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and TCP/IP networking.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware vSphere, SRM, Virtual Center, Horizon View, or MS Hyper-V).
- Experience with backup & cloud storage technologies (Rubrik, Veeam, AWS S3).
- Monitoring & Alerting experience with tools like Nagios, Splunk, and SCOM.
- PowerShell scripting experience.
- Experience with containers and/or running cloud workloads.
- Experience with Microsoft IIS, clustering, and SQL server.
- Experience with SSL certificates, CA’s, and encryption technologies.
- Experience with Jira and scrum/agile methodologies.
- Experience with auditing tools (ADAudit, Nagios, Splunk).
- Solid troubleshooting skills in network performance, server communications, and Windows-based permission issues.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a remote team.
- Solid communication, documentation, time management, and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to learn/comprehend new technologies.
Education/Certification Requirements:
- Degree in Computer Science or a related field (desired).
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (required).
- Technical certifications in Microsoft Windows server or relevant technologies (desired).
